Will Burke is one of our newest franchisees, covering the Salford and Manchester area. Coming out of a very different industry altogether Will is now ready for his next challenge. A keen martial artist since the age of 7, Will saw mixed martial arts arrive in the UK and decided to pursue a career as a fighter, leaving his then career in Sales. After a few years of training, a 5 year career led him to a number of British title fights and led him to win the Total Combat British Lightweight title in 2008. Since then Will has been bust coaching and running his gym in Radcliffe, Manchester, where he has developed a number of amateur competitors and fighters.
Two years ago, a chance meeting with a student introduced him to Locksport, the sport of picking and bypassing locks without a key using basic tools. This became his new interest and a daily hobby, and introduced him to the world of locks and security. When the time came for a change in career Will found Lockfit, and decided to build on his interest and train as a professional locksmith.
Will said “I have loved my time in mixed martial arts, but it is a new industry in the UK and is unstable, and it is also a young man’s game. I am ready to pursue a more stable career, and my body is ready for a rest! I am so lucky to be able to move from one passion straight into another. My time with lockfit so far has been great. Being a keen lock picker and a lover of puzzles and problem solving, I have loved every minute of all aspects of the training and, although it has been difficult, it has also been exceptionally informative. I can’t wait to get out there with the support of the Lockfit team behind me and start growing the franchise.”
