Former security guard finds his key to success after becoming one of 20 LockFit franchisees

A former security guard believes he’s found the key to success with his new venture.

Ross Watkins, who previously worked on a caravan park, has become one of 20 franchisees with the fast-growing LockFit brand.

Called LockFit Weymouth – and covering both Weymouth and Dorchester – he has invested in a specialist vehicle and lock equipment.

Ross, who provides a fitting and consultation service, said: “I decided to start my own business because I wanted more of an equal work life balance.

“I wanted a business that I could mould to fit around me and my family.”

By opting for a franchise with an established name, he was able to quickly win business.

Housing associations, letting agencies and local councils within the area are among his clients.

He offers a 24/7 emergency locksmith service, with services for both domestic and commercial customers.

Ross said: “Business prospects for locksmiths are good.

“It is a recession-proof business with a limitless client base.

“It’s a service that everyone needs and there’s a variety of work in different areas, from new installations in homes and offices to emergencies, warrant work and key cutting.”

LockFit was founded in 2017 by entrepreneur Kevin Russell, pictured left, who believed the locksmith industry required more transparency,

He said: “We believe in always being 100 per cent transparent.

“We are clear, upfront and honest about our company charges.

“We now have 20 franchisees across the UK, and have some exciting plans in place to grow to over 40 by the end of the year, with international growth plans on the horizon.

“It all adds up to a really exciting time, both for LockFit and Ross.”
