LockFit is a national network of DBS checked commercial locksmiths. We open, repair, change and upgrade the locks on shops, offices, warehouses and managed property across the UK, 24 hours a day. Every job is priced before work starts, with no call-out charge and a 12 month guarantee on parts and labour.
Supplier approval usually stalls on paperwork. LockFit holds the accreditations that facilities, property and public sector teams ask for, and each one can be checked at source.

LockFit (Contracts) Ltd holds ISO certification issued by the British Assessment Bureau, a certification body accredited by UKAS, the UK's national accreditation body. Each certificate can be checked on the UKAS CertCheck register.
One local locksmith for the whole building, from the shutter on the street to the safe in the back office.
The numbers on the drawing match the services below.
Locked out of your shop, office or unit, or has a key snapped in the lock? LockFit locksmiths use non-destructive entry wherever the lock allows, so the door is opened without damage where possible. If the lock has failed, it is replaced in the same visit.
A new tenancy, a member of staff leaving or a set of keys going missing are all reasons to change the locks. It takes every old key out of use the same day. LockFit fits insurance approved locks, including BS 3621 mortice locks for timber doors and TS 007 3 star cylinders for uPVC, composite and aluminium doors.
Aluminium shopfront doors use narrow stile locks that are different from the locks on a house. LockFit locksmiths replace hook bolt locks, deadlatches, cylinders and handles on shopfront doors, and open them when a lock has seized or a key has been lost.
A shutter stuck down at opening time, lost shutter keys or a lock that has been attacked all stop you trading. LockFit locksmiths open, repair and replace roller shutter locks, including pin locks, bullet locks and ground locks, on shopfronts, kiosks, garages and loading bays.
A master key system gives each person one key that opens only the doors they need, while a manager's key opens them all. Restricted key profiles mean copies can only be cut with your authorisation, which ends the problem of untracked spare keys.
Keypads, fob and card readers, mechanical digital locks and intercom door entry for offices, stock rooms and shared entrances. Access control lets you add or remove a person in seconds instead of changing a lock, and networked systems keep a record of who opened which door and when. LockFit locksmiths also install CCTV for business premises.
Push bars, push pads and emergency exit locks fitted, repaired and replaced. Doors the public escape through should have a panic bar to BS EN 1125. Staff only exits can use a push pad or lever to BS EN 179. We make sure the exit opens first time and still locks securely from the outside.
Lost the key or combination, or has the safe lock failed? LockFit locksmiths open safes, repair or replace the lock, and install and bolt down new safes.
After a break-in we secure the premises first and repair second. Doors and windows are boarded, damaged locks are replaced and the door is made to lock again, so you can close up and reopen.
LockFit locksmiths attend with utility warrant officers, enforcement agents, landlords and housing teams to gain entry under the warrant or possession order, then change the locks and hand over the new keys.
LockFit provides emergency cover and planned maintenance programmes for retailers, facilities management companies, councils and housing providers, with one point of contact at LockFit and a local locksmith for each site.
Not sure what you need? Book a free security check. A local LockFit locksmith walks the site, notes what each door has now and flags anything that falls short of common insurance requirements.

Insurers and fire risk assessors name standards, not brands. This is what is normally fitted to each type of commercial door in the UK, and the standard to look for on the product or its paperwork.
| Door or opening | Usually fitted | Standard to look for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Timber final exit door | Five lever mortice deadlock or sashlock | BS 3621 | The standard most often named in UK insurance policies for timber doors. |
| uPVC or composite door | Multipoint lock with an anti-snap euro cylinder | TS 007 3 star, or a 1 star cylinder with a 2 star handle | Protects the cylinder against snapping, drilling and picking. |
| Aluminium shopfront door | Narrow stile hook bolt deadlock with a cylinder | Cylinder to BS EN 1303 or TS 007 | A hook bolt stops the door being levered away from the frame. |
| Fire exit used by the public | Panic bar: a push bar or touch bar across the door | BS EN 1125 | Opens with one push by someone who has never seen the door before. |
| Fire exit used only by trained staff | Push pad or lever handle emergency exit device | BS EN 179 | For exits where the people using them know the building. |
| Internal fire door | Fire rated lock or latch with fire test evidence | BS EN 12209, tested to BS EN 1634-1 | Untested hardware can compromise the fire rating of the door. |
| Flat entrance, HMO or any door needing keyless escape | Lock with a thumbturn on the inside | BS 8621 | Anyone inside can get out without finding a key. |
| Office, stock room or comms room | Mechanical digital lock or electronic access control | Chosen by traffic, number of users and audit needs | Codes and fobs are changed in seconds when people leave. |
| Roller shutter | Pin locks, bullet locks or a ground lock | Chosen to suit the shutter | Secures the curtain so it cannot be lifted from outside. |
Insurance. Requirements vary by insurer and by policy. Check the minimum security conditions in your own policy schedule, or ask a LockFit locksmith to check your doors against it during a free security check.
Fire safety. In England and Wales, Article 14 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 says emergency doors must not be locked or fastened in a way that stops anyone who needs them from opening them easily and immediately. Scotland and Northern Ireland have equivalent fire safety legislation.

That covers emergency entry, lock changes, master key systems, access control, fire exit hardware, roller shutter locks and safes. It differs from domestic locksmithing because commercial doors carry insurance, fire safety and staff access requirements.
LockFit quotes a fixed price before work starts and never charges a call-out fee. The price depends on the type of door and lock, the parts needed and the time of day. The quoted price does not change if the job takes longer than expected.
For emergencies, a local LockFit locksmith typically arrives within 30 to 60 minutes, 24 hours a day. Response depends on where your premises are and how busy the local locksmith is, so you are given a realistic arrival time when you call.
Yes. LockFit locksmiths work 24 hours a day, so planned lock changes, access control installs and shutter lock repairs can be booked before opening, after close or at weekends to avoid disrupting staff and customers.
Most UK commercial policies set minimum security conditions for final exit doors. For timber doors this is commonly a five lever mortice deadlock certified to BS 3621. For uPVC and composite doors it is commonly a multipoint locking system, and a TS 007 3 star cylinder is the recognised way to protect that lock against snapping. Requirements vary between insurers, so check your policy schedule. A free LockFit security check will compare your doors against it.
If the person held keys and you cannot be sure every copy came back, yes. Replacing the cylinders is fast and takes every old key out of use. If it happens often, a restricted key system or access control removes the problem, because restricted keys cannot be copied without authorisation and fobs can be cancelled in seconds.
It depends who uses the door. Exits used by the public, who may not know the building, should have a panic bar certified to BS EN 1125. Exits used only by trained staff can have a push pad or lever handle certified to BS EN 179. Your fire risk assessment decides which applies to each door.
Yes. LockFit locksmiths open roller shutters when keys are lost or a lock has failed, and repair or replace shutter locks including pin locks, bullet locks and ground locks. Faults with the shutter motor or curtain need a shutter engineer, and we will tell you if that is the case.
